STRATA HEAT SHIELD

Thanks to a breakthrough in PVC compound technology, Strataglass Ltd., has developed a version of Strataglass that offers heat shielding. The product is perfectly clear with no reflective film and will absorb 70% of the outdoor heat. Because the Strata Heat Shield absorbs this heat, it does not radiate into your enclosure keeping the interior much cooler.

An enclosure made with Strata Heat Shield is perfect for bridges with air conditioning, reducing the load on the system and resulting in a much more efficient cooling process. Like standard Strataglass, boat curtains made with Strata Heat Shield are flexible and can be rolled up . As an added benefit, Strata Heat Shield blocks 95% of UV rays.

Strata Heat Shield is available in 40 mil Clear sheets but will be available in 30, 40 and 60 mil sheets in both Clear and Light Smoke format in the near future.

The above pictures were taken at the 2008 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, where the Strata Heat Shield was introduced. We had a enclosure made of different colors and thicknesses of Strataglass for display, the front two panels were 40 mil clear Strataglass. The one on the left is standard Strataglass, the right is Strata Heat Shield. The thermal heat gun consistently showed a 20 difference in temperature. This difference shows how much the vinyl was absorbing and blocking from being radiated into the enclosure.
